JENNIE MATTHIAS

Jennie Matthias started her musical journey in the early 1980’s as the lead singer of The Belle Stars the all-girl group who rose from the ashes of cult 2-Tone band The Bodysnatchers to become chart regulars in the UK with hits like “Sign Of The Times”, “The Clapping Song”, “Sweet Memory” & the classic “Iko Iko” which also hit the American top ten & featured in the films Rain Man & Hangover. Jennie & The Belle Stars toured with The Clash, Elvis Costello, Madness & The Police which brought her vocal talents to the attention of other major artists wanting to collaborate with her. A couple of them that spring to mind are Paul Weller who asked her to sing on The Jam’s hit single “The Bitterest Pill” & the dubmaster general Adrian Sherwood with whom she has recorded many tracks in a three decade, musical relationship that still continues today. Jennie has recently finished a twelve date ‘Let’s Rock The 80’s’ tour & has just written her first book “Surviving The Storm”.
